DISCOVER XABIA - by Kerry Webber
08/01/13Discover Xabia - a Mediterranean town between the oranges and the sea
Approach the town by sea and you will find over sixteen miles of beaches, coves and cliffs all washed by a clear and pleasant Mediterranean sea. Berber pirates harassed this coastline and the Fifteenth Century fortress church of San Bartomé in the historic heart of the old town is lasting legacy of those far off days. But times change and today you can discover restaurants, bars and cafes hiding in a maze of narrow streets that will delight the most discerning gourmet.
The landscape too has changed in some ways, and the buildings in many ways; but the valleys, the headlands and the Montgó Massif on which Jávea is built has not changed, and nor has the light.
Nor, I suspect, has the warmth of the welcome you will receive from the people of Jávea.
Discover Xabia is an evocative look at this delightful Spanish coastal resort, vividly illustrating the stunning beauty of the natural environment, the character and humour of its people, and the rhythms and diversity of everyday life - both traditional and modern.
Discover Xabia - a Mediterranean town between the oranges and the sea will be published shortly and is the second book by Kerry Webber
